A huge number of girls are playing videos games and
sometimes online. When they do venture of online gaming, that hardly tells
anyone. About 59 percent of all girls between 13 and 17 years play computer
games while people things those teenager girls are not aware of this
entertainment. This was all according to a report titles “Teen, Technology and
Friendship,” was released by Pew Research Center. The chapter based on videos
games tells the role that gaming play in many friendships.
The data about teenage girls are quite interesting and
numbers show that about 60% of the girls are playing games online on a computer
or mobile. 47 percent of them say that they do not play online, 27 % have never
play in front of any other person. You cannot count those girls in same group. About one third of the teens play online girls games at least once in a whole
month. Unlike to boys, girls usually turn off the sound of the game. Only 28%
of the female audience use sound effects or voice chat during their game play. On
the hand, more than 70% boys want to have voice chat during online games.
If we compare these figures that only 28 % girls use voice
chat and 25 % of the girls play online hardly once in a month. After crunching
these numbers, you can get average of teens that use voice chat while playing
online. It is just 9 percent. So it can be said that not even 10 percent out of
60% girls who play games want to talk in public places. However, these are the
estimated numbers and margins of error are pretty higher. Female players have a
lot of reasons of not using this feature. So are innocent and some girls are
disturbing.
Pew research center held a survey to know what kind of
genres they play. They result did not show that they mostly enjoy mobile games.
One of the Pew’s members named Lenhart said that “That was not the case at
all,” she said. “I was surprised by the number of girls who played all kinds of
games.” A survey has been made of 1400 student between the 6 to 12 standards.
The all are mostly 11 to 18 years old with some similarities; teenagers play
almost every type of games. The results of this survey were declared in this
year’s conference for game developers. Above 35 % of the girls in this survey
said that they play role playing games and more than 32 % said they play mobile
based games. Rest of them interested in action, sports and dress up games.
This survey also taken by the same number of boys in which
majority of the boys said that girls they knew are playing various video and
online games. However, 14 percent of boys said they girls are not interested in
gaming at all. So, girls play games silently but their friends and class
fellows are know about their gaming interests. They usually play girlish and
non violent games like Barbie games.
